Smashbooking

If you are anything like me you acquire random memoirs and souvenirs that take residence in the bottom of your handbag. You completely forget about them until  one day you find a train ticket or the card from a restaurant,  it sparks a memory and you think ” Oooh I remember that day” or “Oooh the food there was good.”

Smash booking is a craft that enables you to save all those bits and bobs in one place. It can be as random as you like and it doesn’t require a lot of skill. Smashbooking is like scrapbooking’s crazy sister who isn’t as prim or proper as her, and whose artwork is a bit “messy”. You don’t need to plan out your pages as you do with scrapbooking. Smashbooking can be done on the go and as and when you like.

The first thing you need to get started is a book in which to “Smash” in. There are special books which are made for this purpose. You can buy these from craft shops or online. Hobbycraft  sell a few and online I find Amazon is the best value. The books come with a gel pen with a glue stick on the end so it’s nice and easy to stick bits in. You don’t  NEED to have these books to get started though, a normal plain book with THICK paper is all you need.

Other than your smashbook, you can embellish your pages with whatever you want. You can also buy supplies that are made for smashbooking, such as mini pockets, stickers, mini pegs and lots more. These add more colour and pizzazz(love this word) to your pages. I currently have two smashbooks on the go. I have one just general book and I have a baby one for Albie. Here are some sample pages. I hope you like them,

Jess x

“

Hi, my name is Jessie.

I live in Bedfordshire with my husband and my two boys. I am a born-again Christian and my faith is very important to me. All that I do in life and with my family is to the glory of God, without whom I am nothing. I love to cook, craft, bake and much more. I have created this blog to share my experiences of motherhood and anything I have found useful on the way. I have named this blog the Artisan mom because I believe as mothers we exercise great craftsmanship which makes us artisans of motherhood.

The Bible, Colossians 3v23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord and not for men.”
