After catching train, tube and aeroplane We finally arrived in South Africa on Saturday the 17th of September. From the chill in the air it seemed we had bought the English weather with us! This is not the weather that I have been used to when visiting before. we hadn’t left the airport and Clayton was already tucking into a bag biltong. Biltong is a South African dry cured meat snack and it’s very tasty.

Albie was so great on the flight. There were several families with small children on the plane. We sat next to a couple with a baby girl a couple of months younger then Albie which was nice. Albie was able to stay in his sling on daddy during take-off. We gave him a bottle and then the stewards fitted a bassinet in front of us and he slept for the whole flight. I woke him at 5am to give him a bottle to keep him topped up and then he woke around 20 minutes before landing. We did make the mistake of changing his nappy in the bassinet in the morning. All of a sudden I saw a fountain of pee coming up and over the side of the bassinet and I could hear chuckles behind me, but other than that it was drama free.We were both so pleased it went well.
For the first few days we just chilled and spent quality time with the family. It was lovely to catch-up and introduce Albie to his Granny, Oupa and his aunts and uncles. We hadn’t visited for 3 years so it was lovely to catch-up and for the family to finally meet Albie.
On Tuesday we drove up north to the Kruger with Adrian, Ben, Thabo and Ruth.(Clayton’s brothers and sister) It was a 6 hour drive to get there and the weather was HOT.(34-36 °c) It was an amazing trip and we saw lots of animals. It was great to take Albie with us and he was such a good boy on the trip. Blog post coming soon,
